Brad is the Associate Director of the Alphawood Foundation, a Chicago-based private foundation working for an equitable, just and humane society. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing major project opportunities, providing funding recommendations, and leading implementation efforts. Prior work focused on affordable housing and community development. Brad was appointed by President Barack Obama as a General Public Member of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation in 2011; he was reappointed to the Advisory Council in 2014. Brad has led a variety of initiatives for the Council including an examination of rightsizing and Legacy Cities, development of the Community Revitalization Policy Statement, and creation of priorities and recommendations in light of the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act. Also, Brad serves as Chair of the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation. Previous leadership positions include President of Landmarks Illinois and Chair of Preservation Action.
