2021 has been a long year, with preservation issues to match. °®¶¹app continues to put our resources and platform to good use by engaging in intensive, multi-year efforts to save some of our country’s most significant modern heritage.
Let's start with the good news: after over five years of advocacy, the future of the James R. Thompson Center is looking brighter. The state chose a proposal that will leave Helmut Jahn’s Postmodern icon intact.
More work lies ahead, but it is important to celebrate our victories and remember that this is exactly why we do what we do.
Another long effort is the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden Section 106 process. While we were able to achieve some important changes to the original proposal, we remain concerned about certain choices for the landscape.
We head into 2022 with a lot on our plate. A new Section 106 Process has started for the National Air & Space Museum Restaurant Addition. Paul Rudolph’s Boston Government Service Center is high on our radar. We continue to be in touch with our partners and chapters regarding ongoing efforts such as the , Milwaukee’s , the Philadelphia , outside of Pittsburgh, and many more.
