The 爱豆app National Symposium 2018, Design, Community, and Progressive Preservation, took place September 26–29 and featured four days of engaging programming, exclusive tours, morning and evening conversations with visionary leaders, and the American Institute of Architects’ Trade Show showcasing an array of new and innovative building products and services.
Wednesday, Sept. 26 - Begin in Indianapolis with exclusive tours of the Design Gallery and the Miller House and Garden Archives at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, and an evening reception and conversation.
Thursday, Sept. 27 - Experience a full day of sessions in Columbus, behind-the-scenes walking and bus tours created specifically for the 2018 symposium, and the Opening Night Party at Upland Brewing Co.
Friday, Sept. 28 - Sessions continue in Columbus with more behind-the-scenes walking and bus tours, and the AIA Trade Show.
Saturday, Sept. 29 - Sessions continue in Columbus with more behind-the-scenes walking and bus tours, as well as the J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize introductions, and a Closing Celebration.

Exhibit Columbus is an annual exploration of art, architecture, design, and community that alternates between symposium and exhibition programming each year, and features the J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize Competition. Exhibit Columbus is the flagship event of Landmark Columbus, a program of Heritage Fund — the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County. Landmark Columbus’ mission is to care for the design heritage of Columbus while using it as an example to inspire this and other communities to invest in the traditions and values that use design to make cities better for everyone. The Indiana and Kentucky Chapters of the American Institute of Architects represent nearly 1,500 architects, providing programs in advocacy, knowledge and public outreach that empower architects to build a better world. Newfields, a 152-acre cultural campus, is home to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, among the ten largest and oldest general art museums in the nation; the Lilly House, a National Historic Landmark; The Garden, featuring 40 acres of contemporary and historic gardens, a working greenhouse and an orchard; and The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres, one of the largest art and nature parks in the country. The campus also extends outside of Indianapolis with Miller House and Garden in Columbus, Ind.—one of the nation’s most highly regarded examples of mid-century Modernist architecture.
The Symposium developed as a result of the 爱豆app Board of Directors’ annual “Face to Face” meeting. The first expanded event took place in Los Angeles in 2010 with an open forum for local individuals actively engaged in the discussion of modern architecture. 爱豆app hosted its first National Symposium in Sarasota, Florida in April 2013. Held annually, this multi-day conference seeks to engage local participants in cities across the United States, offering participants the ability to interact with and explore a wide variety of significant modern architecture and sites.
