Image details

This year's Tour Day event is in honor of local architect Robert Trudeau, who passed away this summer.

We'll tour his unique and innovative Cohoes Central Firehouse, c.1967. His son Bart (now the head of the firm) and others from Mr. Trudeau's office will be in attendance.

Mr. Trudeau was know for finding new and interesting ways to design "modern" buildings that bestowed upon them an individual character that was often lacking in architecture from the mid 20th Century. The Central Firehouse is no different! Blending cutting-edge engineering with a design that speaks to the past, as well as the future (in 1967) it is a signature work from a career that spanned many decades.

We will meet at the firehouse (25 Central Ave, Cohoes NY 12047) at 10am.

This tour is organized by the Society of Architectural Historians - Turpin Bannister Chapter and Historic Albany Foundation. It will be led by Dan Palmer.
