The °®¶¹app/North Texas Chapter represents a diverse group of professionals and public whose concern is the protection, interpretation and appreciation of the unique manifestations of the Modern Movement within the region. Works by such nationally-recognized architects as William Lescaze, Harrison & Abramovitz, Paul P. Cret, Richard Neutra, F.L. Wright, H.H. Harris, E.L. Barnes, Philip Johnson, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Louis Kahn, I.M. Pei and Paul Rudolph exist in number within the chapter’s boundaries. In addition, such regional modernists as O’Neil Ford, George Dahl, Howard Meyer, Wyatt Hedrick, Bud Oglesby and many others developed intriguing architectural sensibilities within the context. Landscape architects including George Kessler, Hare and Hare, Thomas Church and Dan Kiley have had significant impact on the north Texas environment. It is the intention of the group to document this work and to follow it’s influences into the present day work of design professionals throughout Texas and the nation. Recent activities include a symposium examining the pioneer Modernists in the region and a tour of a spectacular Fort Worth home designed by Paul Rudolph. This year tours are planned of the Texas Instruments Semiconductor Building in Dallas by O’Neil Ford and Felix Candela, and an I. M. Pei-designed home for an art collector in Fort Worth.
